The Bear Necessities!! Mystery Cache

I decided since it was such a beautiful morning, I would head north to one of my favorite spots and hide a cache. Temp was a balmy forty nine degrees when I left home and I wasn’t really in no big hurry, so I jumped on the scooter and off I went. The trip was only eight miles but it took me nearly forty five minutes to finally arrive at the parking area. I then hiked in and went over the river and through the woods and finally found a excellent beacon for the hide, so I hid the cache well and started hiking back when all of a sudden... there it was... the biggest bear I’ve ever seen!! He really caught me off guard because I surely didn’t expect to see a bear of this kind, especially in this neck of the woods and boy was he ever in an unusual position the way he was all sprawled out against that tree!! I thought I could just sneak away... but no such luck... all of a sudden he must have heard me because he was hot on my trail. I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy trek if I were to head east, so I quickly headed west. Soon I was out of the woods and in the clear, running faster than I ever thought I could!! By now I was really getting worried knowing I had no way of defending myself because I had only taken along the bare necessities. After finally getting up enough gumption to look back, I did notice the bear was nowhere in sight, but neither was my scooter. At that point I knew it wouldn’t be a safe bet to go back through the woods, so I hightailed around the block which really was an exhausting hike, it took me fifty one minutes to finally arrive back to the parking area. I then decided since I was in the Ripon area I might as well make a day of it and do cache maintenance on four of my other hides in the area. All the hides were in good shape, all they need at this time is for some cachers to come along and find them. Now it was finally time to head back home since I needed to change my underwear anyway, but wouldn’t you just know it now the fuel gauge was reading zero… just my luck!! Well after all the rigamarole was eventually said and done, I finally managed to get back home around four o’clock that evening. Wow... what a day it was, hopefully you have better luck than I did!!
