Geocache Description:

Welcome to Motono (Inzai-shi)! A swan comes flying in every winter and becomes the topic. From the middle of October to the middle of March, I can watch the figure of the swan. The bait spear seems to give the ears of the bread mainly on waste rice to bait twice a day at from 4:00 in (on Saturday and Sunday 8:00) and the evening at half past 6 a.m. Not to mention New Year holidays, the bait spearmanship continues even bad weather such as rain or the snow every day. There is the volunteer staff all day on Saturday and Sunday in particular and I observe a swan and play it with the visitor. Though, as for the golden age, the visitor had the time more than 150,000 a year; is approximately 50,000 now. I seem to have possibilities to surpass 2, 000 people on a fine day. After collecting water in the rice field by irrigation canal construction in 1992 with an opportunity, six swans swooped down. Deyama Mitsuo (the deceased) nearby tried feeding in the same clothes patiently every day at the same time and succeeded in feeding for three years. The number of swans which came flying increased year by year, and it was introduced in the media as "volost of the swans", and a person came to come from the distant place. On a holiday, the meeting which protected a swan performed a free service of the sweet alcoholic drink made from sake lees and completely colonized as a natural scene or object which adds poetic charm to the season of the villages. The thing that the expense that beautiful Shiratori starts protection is considerable. From 1995, a meeting and a farming family protecting a swan manage to raise contribution and bait charges, repair costs of the rice field. The wish of people to want to protect nature which Shiratori can spend in peace forever can support this exercise.
