The "Turning Point of the War of 1812".
Historical "Fort Stephenson" stood on this spot where, on August 1st of 1813, Colonel George Croghan fought off the British in the Sandusky River below. With only one cannon, "Old Betsy" which is displayed on the front lawn, the British lost over 150 men. The defenders of Fort Stephenson only lost 1 man. A major victory for the patriots. There is a really nice museum in the building, if you visit during open hours, that has lots of information and artifacts from both the battle and about the local area.
