Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the SC State Park Geocache Challenge. You are looking for a 50-cal ammo box, just off an unpaved trail which forks off from the paved trail. Cache is about 50 feet from the unpaved trail.

Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site sits on a marshy point, located off of the Ashley River, where a group of English settlers landed in 1670 and established what would become the birthplace of the Carolinas colony. The park depicts life in Colonial Charleston through interpretive rangers in 17th century dress, a self-guided history trail with an audio tour and in the 12-room, interactive museum in the Visitors Center.

Guests can step onboard and tour the Adventure, Charleston's only 17th-century replica sailing ship, see cannons fired, or take a peek at otters, bears, bison and more at the Animal Forest natural habitat zoo. The grounds also include 80 acres of gardens, with an elegant live oak alley and the Legare-Waring House, one of Charleston’s favorite sites for weddings and other special gatherings.

This cache is part of the South Carolina State Park Service Geocache Challenge. There are 4 regions within the challenge, with different numbers of geocache locations in each region. In each posted cache, there is a hint, a number that will be used in the formula given in the description for the regional mystery cache, leading you to the final cache in each region, 4 in total. And in that final mystery cache in each region is also a hint, a number that will be used in the formula given in the description for the “Finale cache”, providing the coordinates to reach the final cache, located at Sesquicentennial State Park which entitles the first 5 finders to a special reward. But to do this, you will have to have traveled to all 47 parks, and have found all of the caches! Good luck and most of all, have fun!
