Geocache Description:

The perfect area of Chincoteague Island for treasure hunters!

Native-Americans, early settlers and pirates roamed the Eastern Shore in years past. Edward Teach (c.1680–November 22, 1718), better known as “Blackbeard,” is believed to have sailed the Atlantic Ocean between the Delaware Bay 60 miles to the north and the Outer Banks of North Carolina about 138 miles to the south “as the crow flies.”

Twenty-two (22) ships are reportedly sunk along the Virginia coast, although Blackbeard isn't to blame.

Maybe some of the treasures from these ships found their way to Chincoteague Island. Enjoy the hunt!

“E.W.P., July 23, 1905” is written in the plaster above the attic stairwell in the structure closest to this cache.

The cache container is a camouflage-painted pill bottle with a second container inside to keep the log dry. Please replace the cache exactly where found.

We love photos of cache visitors!

Bring your own writing instrument.

Please limit visits to sunrise to sunset.

This cache is NOT located around the big building used for worship.
