Swanson
Park
A
Wichita Wild Habitat Area
Welcome to
Swanson
Park, one of Wichita's finest parks. It
spans 93.22 acres of lush wildlife, thick forest, a vibrant Cowskin
Creek, nature trails, and 1.3 miles of paved walking path.
To locate the final coordinates, you will need to follow the
instructions below. This is a 5 stage multi-cache and depending on
your route can be a 2 to 5 mile hike. A waypoint coordinate
projection is also required, so make sure you are up to speed on
that. The Cowskin can be very temperamental, and is
known for cresting its banks and flooding the park. Please keep
this in mind and prepare accordingly.
The posted
coordinates mark the beginning of the paved path. There are several
informational stands along the path. You will need to find the
Swanson Family Legacy stand in order to proceed.

Head west on the
paved path. When you come to a fork in the road, Choose either left
or right. If you pick left, stay left at the next fork you come
across. If you choose right instead, then stay right. If you come
across a third fork, you need to turn around as you have went to
far. Once you have located the sign, you will need to do a waypoint
projection. Project 890 feet at a heading of 28 degrees to find the
next information you will need to locate the final.
When in doubt,
just keep going. It does end, you just have to keep pushing
forward. I recommend setting a few reference waypoints along the
way. Swanson Park is absolutely full of deer and other wildlife.
While on your journey, keep your voice(s) low and walk lightly, and
you may just walk up on some. Please be respectful of the park and wildlife, and
CITO when
possible.
