Geocache Description:

THIS IS A CHALLENGE CACHE, which is located at the listed coordinates. To log a find, you must have completed the challenge requirements specified below, and have signed this cache's field log.

The Challenge is to find and log a cache on a minimum of FOUR of the seven Continents (Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America). You must have physically visited and properly logged a cache on each of the Continents you use to satisfy the requirement–that is, “armchair” Virtual Caches and Locationless Caches do not qualify. For purposes of this challenge, the areas encompassed by each Continent are those illustrated in the “Seven Continents Model” map of Wikipedia. Further, for this challenge "Australia" will be deemed to be Australia/Oceania (Australia, New Guinea, New Zealand, Melanasia, Polynesia, and Micronesia).

No date restrictions apply, so your past cache finds qualify. Document your completion by posting in your log the GC number and the date of your cache find for the four caches used in meeting the challenge requirements. Alternatively, bookmark your cache selections.

The cache is accessible using the trail system of the Bobcat Ridge Natural Area. It is located on Roosevelt National Forest land, so it’s a legal placement. A roundtrip hike of about 7 miles on a very good trail is needed to reach the cache; the hike involves about 1,100 feet of total elevation gain. Dogs are not allowed on this trail, but mountain bikes can be used. Horses are not permitted for most of the trail distance. The cache is a small container placed on the east side of a large rock formation (about 8 feet from the highest point of the formation). It’s hidden in a cavity of the rock and is covered by a small flat rock. Be careful as you approach the specific cache vicinity due to the modest exposure. Plenty of rock platforms provide secure footing, but be cautious. The trail takes a hiker through the area devastated by the Bobcat Ridge Fire that burned more than 10,000 acres in June, 2000. It provides lessons in natural ecosystem recovery from a major hot burn. Observe the regenerative processes that are going on around the cache location!

The Difficulty/Terrain rating applied to the cache represents the overall effort needed to meet the challenge requirements. The actual hike and finding the physical cache has a rating of 2.0/3.5.

On October 30, 2011 I found and logged a similar challenge cache located in Michigan: "MaxB’s Continental Breakfast--Challenge Cache" GC31HNC. Their wonderful cache provided the inspiration for this challenge cache in Colorado. Thanks, Maxine and Warren!

CONGRATULATIONS TO KENYANSHERPA FOR THE FTF!!
