Fore a cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

wademercer: Time for these to retire. Feel sad that a few cachers have littered the Dfw area with thousands of poorly rated caches... all to appease a few loopers... not sure how you can brag about a hundred or more loops when most are from falsely rated caches! Also frustrating that the dfw cachers aren’t discouraging this bad behavior. I feel the north Texas geocaching association should be spearheading a movement to encourage cachers to rate their caches appropriately. To have some pride in the cachers and caches they represent. Instead, they actively participate in their Denton overrated events, and enjoy another false loop. They should be discouraging inaccurate cache ratings. Txga leadership should be modeling the best geocaching behavior for others to follow. Step up.

Golf. I finally decided to give it a try. After three years of saying no, I finally gave in. I figured after two or more rounds the gang would give up trying to get me into golf and would then leave me alone and never ask me to play again!

Little did I know they are early risers: I had to get up at five in the morning to have time to get ready and make it to the golf course by our 8:00 AM tee time (or was that, Tea time?). Along the way I found myself a little hungry, so made a quick seven AM detour to McDonalds for a diet coke and a yogurt. After all, these guys were really into golf and planned to play several rounds. They were hoping to stay the entire day, and not leave until after six, when the club house closed. What fun! Anyways, soon after, I was on the course, ready to play. FORE........

So how many holes are we playing? It did not take me long to realize I was just not built for golf. I should have known I was in trouble when I made it to the club house to change shoes, and all they had for me was a size nine. I wear shoes a lot larger than that. Big feet maybe? are my feet too big to play golf?

I am not trying to sound like a six year old, but I was just not enjoying the golf experience. After five rounds I was ready to go. I was having zero fun. And I had lost all of my balls too; zero had made it into the holes so far! Water traps love me! And I think the guys picked up on this pretty quickly. Maybe their first clue was when I left for two hours to grab a nearby geocache that had just been published!

Upon my return the guys seemed like they were done with golf for the day. I felt sad. Well, really I did not, but I said I did! Maybe they believed me. We decided to grab a drink in the club house and then head on. Since I still had a few more hours of daylight I figured I would just grab a few caches on the way home. So my thought was to make a quick run to the club house for a social visit and then leave. The boys had a different plan. Since the video room was available, they decided to book it for the rest of the day and play "City of Heros" until they closed. I was cool with that; my character was ready for flight and aching to soar. After a quick visit to the hollows, they soon picked up that I was a lot better at City of Heros than Golf! I guess it was a disappointment for them, because they suddenly all received messages from home and had to leave!

While riding home I did grab a few more caches. While thinking about the day, I figured the chances of these guys ever inviting me to golf again was zero. I was ok with that. Why golf when you can cache?
