This is a very simple micro cache to encourage cachers to stop and enjoy the view.
Taipa is supposedly the landing place of the early Polynesian navigator, Kupe, and is a place he returned to on a regular basis. There is a roadside plaque across the river in Taipa itself which interested cachers can stop and read.
The river was an important food source to the Maori people and you can still fish in it. The grassy ramp to the water's edge by the cache allows you access to the shellfish beds at low tide where you can still get a feed. If the weather is fine and the tide is low you need to keep an eye out for muggles coming to gather their kai moana (sea food).
