Geocache Description:

St. Leo's the Great Roman Catholic Church is the beating heart of Baltimore's famed Little Italy.

NOTE: IF YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO SIGN THE LOG, DON'T CLAIM THE FIND! Half the challenge in this series of caches is retrieving the log.

Built in 1881, St. Leo's church and school have long been cornerstones of Little Italy. The church was built in large part by Italian stonemasons and carpenters in an Italianate style. The building continues to serve as the spiritual, cultural, and educational home for many of the neighborhood's residents. While you are in the area, seek out one of the many fine restaurants, observe a game of bocce nearby, or attend one of the summer festivals.

You are looking for a nano-sized cache. You will need a special tool to retrieve the log from the container. GZ is handicap accessible. The most challenging part of this cache will be finding parking! Stealth may be needed. High muggle area.

This cache is part of a series called "Coming to Baltimore" that highlights places of historical or cultural significance to groups that settled in Southeastern Baltimore County and East Baltimore, including the Native Americans, English, Irish, African-Americans, Jews, Italians, Greeks, and Hispanics.

This series is the by-product of a semester-long project that my ENGL101 students at CCBC Dundalk completed this semester. They had to conduct research into each of these groups and identify these historic sites. Thanks goes to the CCBC Geocachers for assisting with placement of the series.
