CMW2: Strangled Oak Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bhanacharaid: I haven't lived in the area for some years and although I return a couple of times a year, I just don't get around to maintaining most of my old caches. Friends who also helped have also moved on so it's time to close them all down, and make room for new ones.

Geocache Description:

Park on Maple Walk at N50 50.332 - E000 25.582. THIS IS NOT PRIVATE LAND in spite of the cultivated shrubs. There's a 'Public footpath' milestone on the ground and there are signs for 3 cottages down a part-cobbled path. FOLLOW THAT PATH. A short way down on the left, you'll see a good, dog-friendly stile.

The second of a series of caches following the footpaths that cross the fields and marshes of the Pevensey Levels.

CONTAINER: Sandwich box painted black - room for swaps.

This splendid oak tree is being literally throttled by the abundant ivy that is entangled around the trunk and forms a massive crown above. This is a well-climbed tree.

Beware of cow pats! And electric fences - which have been added all around these fields with much abandon. They're rarely on and there's rarely livestock in these fields except in summer.

FIRST TO FIND: LOOPYHOOP
