I’ve been caching for a few years now and even introduced this sport/hobby (obsession) to my son (known to the caching world as Carolina Rednecks). We get out as often as we can to tackle the park and grabs, nanos, micros, ammo cans, or whatever, you name it. It was early in 2011 that we were introduced to the tunnel, or pipe, hides. My first thought was, who in their right mind would go into a drainage pipe, on purpose.....for fun? Now, having done a few for ourselves, we too do them just for fun. They are not for everyone. Flash forward a few months and we finally joined the others lucky enough to find one to make into a cache.
About the same time we discovered the pipe hides, we did our first night cache and liked the concept of it, but there was only the one in the area that we could find. Flash forward a few months and another night cache was created, close enough to give it a try. This one was quite a bit longer than the first one, which I liked. By this time, I had heard of 1-2 more night caches that had been created, but they were a little further than I wanted to travel. So, having done the second night cache, my son and I were inspired to place our own in our hometown area. Although it's not as long as the last one we tried, we had fun setting it up. We hope you enjoy it, and hopefully it will inspire others to place more of them in the area, or at least close by.

A few suggestions for those who are new to the Night Caching adventure: ALWAYS note your trail head or parking coords. You need a way out in case you get off course. Once at the trail head, you should not need your GPS to get through the trail. There are reflectors to mark your path. When you see a reflector, go to it, look around for the next and go to it, and so on. You are in the dark, so don't assume you know where the next reflector will be. That's a good way to ge lost. Night caching can be fun if it is done the right way and the CO maintains the trail and hide.
