Geocache Description:

Regular size cache on the grounds of the local coal museum.

The cache is a Lock&Lock container painted black and hid on an old preserved locomotive at the coal museum.

It is a 1940 EMD SW1 locomotive donated to the coal museum from the Lynnville Mine that shut down in 1999. The locomotive was transported from on old railroad siding at the mine over interstate 64 to the coal museum where it was sandblasted and given a new paint job in its original mine colors.

The museum is open on Thursday, Friday, Satrurday, and Monday from 9am-5pm, and Sunday 12-4pm (no admission cost), but cachers are free to look on any day, but no night caching is allowed. The area is under video surveilance, so please be respectful of museum property.

Feel free to talk to any of the museum directors or volunteers you see while there for the cache; they know where it is, but won't help unless you ask very nicely! :)

Area is handicapped accessible, but is packed fine gravel, so this may be a 1.25 terrain rating. You can park near the locomotive. The area is also accessible from the Lynnville Park through a walking path.

Some special stickers have been made for finders of the cache. They will be in a marked bag, please feel free to take one per finder.

Congrats to Dr. Who and K-9 for FTF!
