Up the hill you go! I haven't had any complaints about the terrain level, so I'll leave it at a 3 just for the walk up.
**April 2014 Note**
Restarting the "Kidlit Cache" series, and it doesn't make much sense for this one to be #2 any more now that #1 is gone. As I add to the series, each one will be themed on a particular book.
When You Reach Me is by Rebecca Stead and won the 2010 Newbery Medal. If you liked A Wrinkle In Time, you need to read this.
"By sixth grade, Miranda and her best friend, Sal, know how to navigate their New York City neighborhood. They know where it’s safe to go, and they know who to avoid. Like the crazy guy on the corner.
But things start to unravel. Sal gets punched by a new kid for what seems like no reason, and he shuts Miranda out of his life. The apartment key that Miranda’s mom keeps hidden for emergencies is stolen. And then Miranda finds a mysterious note scrawled on a tiny slip of paper:
I am coming to save your friend’s life, and my own.
I ask two favors. First, you must write me a letter.
The notes keep coming, and Miranda slowly realizes that whoever is leaving them knows things no one should know. Each message brings her closer to believing that only she can prevent a tragic death. Until the final note makes her think she’s too late."
This cache container is now a 1-gallon lock-n-lock that will actually hold some kidlit. The gas mask canister will be repurposed. :)
**Original description**
A park this great needs another cache, and I love this spot. The second in the Kidlit series, this is an ammo box with room for bigger format and older reader books along with trackables and trade items. FTF gets a canvas book bag! Take a book, leave a book, and let us know what your favorite read is. Also dropping the TB I picked up in December and then forgot to drop off in Oklahoma. Coordinates should get you within a few feet at most, if not right on top of the thing. Not recommended for night caching (park closes at dark anyway), but I've got even money on some of you FTFers being out there tonight. :) Happy caching!
Kudos to Shilo, the boostampers and babybraggs for first, second and third finds. Knew there would be caching in the dark!
