Geocache Description:

Petersham Oval is the site of Sir Donald Bradman's first appearance in grade cricket. It is also a lovely park with a swimming pool and kids playground.

On 27 November, 1926, Bradman as a young eighteen year old just up from the country, tried out for St George against Petersham on this Oval. He scored 110. The rest is Australian sporting history.

There is a plaque commemorating the event in front of the grandstand.

The idea and history for the cache comes from the previous archived cache Pete's Oval by zTM.

Log only. Please don't take the pencil!
