La passerelle du bassin du commerce sur laquelle vous vous trouvez a été construite en 1969 par l'architecte Gillet. Cette passerelle métallique a obtenu en 1972 le Prix national de la meilleure réalisation métallique dans la catégorie " ouvrage d'art ".
En regardant vers l’ouest, vous avez au premier plan le Volcan, c’est une salle de spectacle construite par l’architecte Oscar Niemeyer. Ce théâtre a été reconstruit au même endroit que l’ancien détruit en 1944 (voir photo). En arrière plan, on aperçoit le haut de l’église François 1er, (ne pas manquer la visite de ce lieu) ce clocher domine la ville comme un phare. Les marins disent que c’est le premier bâtiment que l’on aperçoit lorsque l’on est au large.
Un peu d’histoire :
La construction du bassin du Commerce a été décidée en 1787. Le creusement a commencé en 1792. Il a d’abord été utilisé par la marine, mais ce fût aussi un atelier de mature et un grand centre de commerce maritime.
En 1887, à l'occasion de l'Exposition maritime internationale une passerelle métallique a été construite en son milieu, détruite en 1944, elle a été remplacée par la passerelle actuelle.
The footbridge of the pond of the business on which you are was built in 1969 by the architect Gillet. This metallic footbridge obtained in 1972 the national Prize of the best metallic realization in the category "work of engineering". By looking westward, you have in the foreground the Volcano, it is a theater built by the architect Oscar Niemeyer. This theater was reconstructed in the same place as ancient destroyed in 1944 (to see photo). In the background we perceive the top of the church François 1st, (do not miss the visit of this place) it dominate the city as a lighthouse. The sailors say that it is the first building which we perceive when we are on the open sea.
A little of history : The construction of the pond of the Business was decided in 1787. The digging began in 1792. It was used at first by the navy, but it is also a workshop of mature and a big center of maritime business. In 1887, on the occasion of the international maritime Exhibition a metallic footbridge was built in its environment, destroyed in 1944, it was replaced by the current footbridge.
