Geocache Description:

GADGET CACHE III:CHIRP/FLASHLIGHT!

The Gadget Cache series is all about using different devices or 'gadgets' to add some fun to the geocaching experience!

This cache is not at the posted coordinates! It is located at an undisclosed location along the Pere Marquette Rail Trail and requires use of either a CHIRP capable GPS to receive a 'beamed' message OR use of a Flashlight to find reflective clues in the dark.

FINDING IT WITH A CHIRP GPS

1. Ensure your unit is CHIRP compatible and that it is running the latest software.

2. Ensure that CHIRP searching is 'ON' (note: this is different than 'Share wirelessly')

3. Park at either the Reed City Depot Visitors Center or the Roth St. section of
the trail and begin an enjoyable walk down the trail. The challenge
is to use your GPS to locate the CHIRP signal and receive the
required message.

4. The CHIRP message will display the the final Coordinates, a
Hint, AND the required Code on your GPS that are necessary to
locate the cache and sign the log.

FINDING IT VIA A FLASHLIGHT

1. The alternative gadget is a good ol' regular flashlight, probably already in your geocaching supplies.

2. Searching for the cache will require the search for the clues and final cache container to be done at night along a fairly lit section of the Rail Trail.

3. Park at either the Reed City Depot Visitor's Center or Roth St. section of
the trail and begin an enjoyable walk down the Rail Trail. The
challenge is to locate a tree, sign, or other object that is marked with reflective trail markers.

4. Once found, search for a camo'd cache card with the latitude, longitude, and code needed to find the cache and sign the log.

I really appreciate logs that tell me which method was
used and whether this type of cache was enjoyed or not.
