Cliff Drive #5A Maple Grove Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

pjmpjm: It's with a heavy heart that I've decided to archive this fairly popular cache.

Since it was first placed by wackydo, there have been problems, and the park area tends to be swampy and awkward to navigate during wet weather. As well, lots of people use this area for picnics on weekends and holidays, and so the litter build-up can be considerable.

The cache once went missing during wackydo's time, and then mysteriously re-appeared a few days later!

After I adopted it, I found a new and better place quite near the original GZ and accidentally discovered a great camo container, one designed for an entirely different purpose. And yet it blended in perfectly, in its odd location.

Nevertheless, I think it's been difficult for finders to replace the cache properly, and there are so many people around that muggling is always a danger.

Anyhow, this is it. Thanks to wackydo for the original cache and for all the finders and the 'favourite' points. I just drove over to Katoomba and picked up the container.

Remember that I still have a great many caches placed around this area, both GC and GCA, so visitors won't have to look far for more finds.

(BTW, I still never found a maple tree around this place . . . )

Geocache Description:

Another geocache originally set up by wackydo . . .

Maple Grove Park is a lush green park located in the area of the famous lookouts at Katoomba, and quite close to well-known Scenic World. It features gas barbecues and picnic tables and has a lovely creek running through it, which can unfortunately become quite swamp-like during rainy periods!

Cliff Drive is a spectacular roadway that takes you right along the cliff edges between Katoomba and Leura. There are lookouts positioned all along Cliff Drive, and whether you stay in your car or get out to stand at the lookouts, you'll enjoy some great perspectives in this majestic area.

This park is a likely spot for a picnic for a geo-family, near all the Katoomba attractions, with geocaches all around.

Unfortunately, there are no true maple trees anywhere in the vicinity, but a number of liquid ambers are quite evident.

However, you might be especially interested in one very large pine tree . . .

The new container is a micro, but the entire camo-and-container combo is really a small . . .
