This event, being held in Auckland, New Zealand, is part of a Worldwide Multi-Event on the 29th of February 2011, celebrating the leap year and how this year we'll have 366 days on which to find caches. That's a whole extra day we can devote to geocaching! Yay!
An event geocoin will be available to celebrate the event. This is a collectable, but fully trackable geocoin designed for all of the events making up the multi-event all around the world. For this event, the New Zealand events (Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin) will have a New Zealand coin, which will be a strictly limited edition with just 75 coins to be shared by the 3 events. Cost of the coin is $15.

The Geocaching Academy Awards
Because this event is on the 29th of Feb, a day that only comes around every 4 years, and we have some swag items that Oakcoins kindly supplied us to give away at the event, we thought we would do something a bit different than the old random spot prize draw.
For this event, we're asking you, when you arrive and register at the event, to come up with a couple of crazy awards and nominate some other geocachers (preferably those who are going to be at the event) for the awards you came up with.
On the night, we'll use some chaotic, pseudo scientific, random, subjective way to pick out the best awards out of those you all come up with, and we'll give away the Oakcoins swag accordingly.
Please keep an eye on this cache page in case there are updates or changes (such as the venue). SEE YOU THERE!!!
Happy caching!
