Lacul Zanoaga este un lac glaciar situat in Parcul National
Retezat, Muntii Retezat. Este cel mai adanc lac de acest tip din
tara, adancimea lui maxima fiind de 29 m.
Asezat in caldarea glaciara a Judelui, pe versantul sudic al
muntelui Sesele, la altitudinea de 1997 m, lacul are o forma
circulara, lungimea si latimea maxima ii sunt de 360, respectiv 260
m, iar perimetrul 875 m, realizand astfel o suprafata de 6,0 ha si
un volum al apei de 693000 m3.
Adancimea maxima de 29 m se situeaza la mijlocul lacului. Este
alimentat de 6 paraie venind din toate directiile cu exceptia celei
sudice peste care deverseaza paraul Zanoaga.
A fost populat cu pastravi indigen si curcubeu si puieti de
coregon. Pescuitul este admis in intervalul 1 mai – 14
septembrie.
Accesul la lac: de la Gura Zlata, prin Cioaca Aradesului –
saua lacului Zanoaga, sau de la Gura Apei prin Varful Zlata, Saua
lacului, se fac 4 ore de mers. De la lacul Bucura se fac 3 ore prin
Poarta Bucurii.

Zanoaga lake is a glacial lake located in Retezat National Park,
in Retezat Mountains. It is the deepest lake of its kind in the
Romania, a maximum depth of 29 m.
Located in the ice bucket Judelui, on the southern slope of
Mount Sesele, at an altitude of 1997 m, the lake has a circular
shape, length of 360 m and maximum width of 260 m and 875 m area,
making this an area of 6,0 ha and a volume of 693,000 m3 of
water.
Maximum depth of 29 m is situated in the middle of the lake. It
is powered by six streams coming from all directions except the
south over the river discharge Zanoaga.
It was populated with indigenous and rainbow trout. Fishing is
allowed in the period May 1 to September 14.
Access to the lake in Gura Zlata by Cioaca Aradesului - Saddle Lake
Zanoaga, or Gura Apei by Zlata Peak, Saddle Lake, 4 hours hike.
From lake Bucura to lake Zanoaga it’s a 3 hours hike.
