Geocache Description:

Ginkgo Gate

The Ginkgo Gate was designed by South Australian artists Hossein and Angela Valamanesh.

It is constructed in silicon bronze and provides a sculptural piece of art to the Western Entrance of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.

The ginkgo leaf was chosen for its unusual and aesthetic qualities, as well as its medicinal qualities.

Western Entrance

The Western Entrance incorporates the Ginkgo Gate and provides a corridor leading from the cultural boulevard of North Terrace, the education and health precincts of The University of Adelaide, University of South Australia and the Royal Adelaide Hospital to the Adelaide City Council Frome Park/Nellie Raminyemmerin, through the Ginkgo Gate and into Adelaide Botanic Garden and Garden of Health.
