Geocache Description:

This simple series of Christmas caches aims to illustrate and celebrate a popular Christmas song. The series is composed of twelve traditional caches, located within the copper coast area of the Yorke Peninsula. The series concludes with an optional additional puzzle cache which may be solved and claimed when the series is completed.

The Christmas song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is one of the most popular of all Christmas songs. Many versions have been developed over the years, generally incorporating a local or humorous flavour. Check out youtube for an entertaining couple of hours!
There are also claims that the song has a religious basis, each day referring to basic teachings of the Christian Faith.
The series has been conceived, researched and designed by Gum-Phyl - a team of Gum-Ako and Sun-Phyl. We hope you enjoy the series!
On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

A Partridge in a Pear Tree
According to the religious interpretation, the partridge in a pear tree is Jesus whose birthday is celebrated by Christians on December 25, the first day of Christmas. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge that feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings.
