Geocache Description:

This one is called "Day & Night" because it would be a good one to do in the day, and then another time at night. During the day you are likely to see eels, californian quails, tui, kereru, weka, ducks, and the odd person! At night, depending on the time you visit, you are likely to hear morepork, kiwi, weka and silence!

I have designed this more as a night trail, but will work equally well during the day......I think! Don't forget to bring your torch. Follow these instructions to find the cache. Cellphone reception is poor in this area, so coordinates could be a bit off! The start of the trail can be found at S 35 14.845 E 174 07.139. Park next to the white post, on the left of the road at given coordinates. The post is hidden in the trees. It has 5 reflectors on and a sign saying "Warning - buried telephone cables. Inquire before excavating." The track starts directly opposite. There is a sign now, at the start of the track - "Jim's Track". When you go into the trees you'll find 5 steps with 3 reflectors on each step, just to reassure you that you are on the right track! Follow the track. Pass the pond and find the wooden steps on your right - each marked with 3 reflectors. Follow the track until you get to a junction - go left. When you find the two steps with 5 reflectors on each........LOOK LEFT! Once you have found the cache, follow the path upwards. Turn left at the junction, follow the path to join the road and walk back down hill to the start.
