Welcome to the Duck Flat Garden. Finding this cache shouldn’t be too hard, but getting to the log will take a moment or two longer!
The Duck Flat Community Garden is a wonderful initiative of the Adelaide Hills Community Health Service. It is maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers and hosts many community and health-based groups and activities for all ages. The garden features over thirty-five vegetable beds, fruit trees, a wood-fired pizza oven, an activity shed for craft, cooking and woodwork, a smaller memorial garden in memory of loved ones and various sculptures and artworks.
The cache is waiting for you at the published coordinates; however on arriving at GZ you’ll find it quite secure in its little wooden house. To find the means to its release you’ll need to take a short stroll around the garden path. Keep your eyes peeled and answer the following questions:
1. How many steering wheels does the boat have?
If One, A=9. If Two, A=8
2. What colour is the brightly painted gate by the kangaroo totem pole?
If Blue, B=5. If Green, B=8
3. Who owned the original site on which the Garden is built, prior to its compulsory acquisition in 1919?
If Thomas Castle Paltridge, C=9. If William James Finlayson, C=1
4. What is the name of the memorial garden, built in memory of loved ones?
If The Heart Garden, X=2. If The Soul Garden, X=3
5. Which of the wooden totems has antlers?
If Wolf, Y=3. If Lorikeet, Y=5
6. What is the name of the tale that inspired the ceramic story poles?
If The Journey To See The Sun King, Z=3. If The Giant Who Had No Heart In His Body, Z=8

There is no need to tread or fossick in the garden beds – please respect the Garden, the volunteers and the groups working there. Be careful of watchful eyes in the neighbouring houses close by. Enjoy your visit to a beautiful, yet relatively little known part of the local community!
