The Treasure of Hillarys Boat Harbour Wherigo Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been longer than 28 days since the last reviewer note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 28 days), just contact us (by email) once the cache is in place, and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 28 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Wherigo Cache - The Treasure of Hillarys Boat Harbour.

Join Guybrush Threepwood, Stan, the Old Sea Captain and more on this swashbuckling adventure! Find the treasure to find the cache! Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum!

Inspired by Lucy in Woodvale (GC306CA) by AusTrackers, 3ForTheHoard are proud to present "The Treasure of Hillarys Boat Harbour".
If you have never completed a Wherigo cache before, we recommend completing Lucy in Woodvale before tackling this one.

To complete this cache, you must download the 2 cartridges (PART 1 and PART 2) from www.wherigo.com (login with your Geocaching.com username and password).
NOTE: When you download the files, make sure you save them as different filenames, as the whereigo seems to shorten the filenames of the 2 parts to the same name.

You must then transfer these files to your device containing a Wherigo player.

This can be your:
  • Garmin Colarado
  • Garmin Oregon
  • Garmin Nuvi 500
  • Pocket PC
  • Nokia N95 (or other J2ME phone with GPS)*
  • Android phone/tablet*
  • iPhone/iPad*
*Not officially supported.

This cache has been tested using a Nokia N95 (using OpenWIG, a standard J2ME application) and an Android tablet (using WhereYouGO, which is based on OpenWIG). Thanks go to PaidTheUmp for letting us borrow the tablet for testing.

This cache has been heavily inspired and influenced by The Secret of Monkey Island by LucasArts, a computer game from 1990.

Bearing that in mind, you may experience similar difficulties in game play where you appear to hit a brick wall. When this happens, have a closer look at your inventory (ITEMS) and the things in your immediate vicinity (YOU SEE). Many items interact with many other items. For example, you could always see what happens if you feed some Breath Mints to a Small Shark... although we don't recommend this behaviour.

If/when you get stuck:
  • Check your locations list (ZONES) to see if there are any places you haven't been yet.
  • Check your task list (TASKS) to see what your current tasks are.
  • Check your logbook (in your inventory (ITEMS)) from time to time. It will be automatically updated as you progress.
  • As a last resort, log a message to the cache or email us.

This cache has been split in 2 as there have been some reports of devices not handling large filesizes and being generally flakey. At the end of PART 1, you will be presented with a PASSWORD. Please do not share this with anyone. Write it down, close the cartridge and then start PART 2. You will prompted for the password when it starts.

This cache will have you wandering all over Hillarys Boat Harbour, so some discretion is advised. We also HIGHLY recommend looking at other Geocaches in the area while your at it.
You may also want to make sure that you bring extra batteries for your device or make sure it is fully charged before heading out.

The end point of this Wherigo cache is a Traditional cache, so you can sign the logbook and log the find on Geocaching.com.
NOTE: There is no need to go off of any paths or trails at any stage.
