Geocache Description:

Cornwall's first 100 plus cache series. There's a fair mix of footpaths and very minor roads - with quite a lot of up and down sections. Dogs should be no problem, buggies/prams and wheelchairs will struggle - lots. Some stunning views so bring a camera. There are several stiles on the way round.

Mr Choughly  The Choughly Saint's HALO Cache Series

It’s based on parts of “The Saints Way”, a circuit of some 22 miles, taking in coastline, moorland, a tor and a selection of delightful towns and villages - with many spots to stop for tea or if you’re that way inclined there’s a lovely selection of fine Cornish Pubs on the way round.

Cache Name HALO - St Erth

Profile

St Erc (also known in Latin as Ercus, and in Cornish as Erth) was an Irish Saint, apparently also active in Cornwall.
Erc was the only person to give homage to Saint Patrick during the latter's confrontation with the druids on the Hill of Slane in 433. Patrick later ordained him a priest and bishop of Slane. Erc is said to have trained the young Saint Brendan the Navigator at his church in Ardfert. Saint Erc is also responsible for establishing the famous school at Slane, where King Dagobert II is said to have received his early education.
The Cornish Saint Erc is generally, though not certainly, believed to be the same man. He was the brother of Saints Uny and Ia and crossed from Ireland to Cornwall, where a church and the village of St Erth are dedicated under his patronage. His feast in Cornwall is 31 October.
