Part of the 2011-2012 Come Out and Play Contest. The Notable Women of New Brunswick series honours women either born or based in the City who are distinguished in some capacity for their contributions and historical significance. This is by no means an exclusive or complete list, but a sampling from various disciplines. Enjoy!

Molly Bobak - Artist, Writer and Educator
72 Lansdowne Street

Molly Lamb, who attended the Vancouver School of Art, has had an illustrious career as an artist and illustrator. She enlisted with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in 1942, and was the first woman to receive official designation as Canadian War Artist. She settled in Fredericton in 1960 as Artist in Residence at UNB. The Old Arts Building contains stained glass windows designed by Molly Lamb Bobak. Her work in oils, especially Fredericton crowd scenes, are widely enjoyed and admired. She is a Member of the Order of Canada, the Order of New Brunswick, and the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
