Jackie Webster - Journalist
18 Shore Street

Jackie Webster began her career as a journalist in the early 1960s and had to overcome many gender barriers in order to be taken seriously. Her keen sense of news and her drive to tell stories helped her succeed in the media world. Webster moved onto communications in the 1970s when she was hired to work for Premier Richard Hatfield. She eventually became his speech writer.
During her career, she worked for the Telegraph Journal, the Daily Gleaner, Maclean’s magazine, the Globe and Mail, the Times, the Vancouver Sun, the Star Weekly, and CBC Radio and Television, among many others. She was a frequent guest on Peter Gzowski’s Morningside, and in her retiring years, she became one of the best known columnists in the province.”
Visit the "Webster Room" at the Crowne Plaza, in honour of Jackie. Formerly the Lord Beaverbrook Hotel, this is where Jackie continues to meet weekly with friends and political pundits alike to discuss the issues of the day.
