At McDonald's in Santa Clara take Dixie Drive south and turn right on Canyon View Drive and then right on Plantations Drive. Take the next left and and then take the left fork at the bottom of the valley. Close the ranch gate after you and follow your GPS pointer. At this point the road sometimes requires a high clearance vehicle (but not 4x4). If you have one then keep on going...if not then just park and walk up the road. At the end of the road look for the trail head. Walk up the trail and take a left at any obvious trail junction.
The first cache can is hidden in a cleft under some flat sandstones. From this point on you will need to follow the instructions in the cache cans. Take a pencil and paper with you. You will need your GPS for most of the remaining journey.
The next coordinates will take you to a cave, one of many. Go inside and take the first right and head for the lighted entrance. The second cache can is hidden in a cleft under some flat sandstones.
The next coordinates will take you to a great view. Look for the third cache can hidden under an innocuous rock shelf. Now head for the nearest Utah juniper. If you find the correct one then you will find a small rock cairn at its base. Standing on the north side of the juniper take a bearing of 285 degrees magnetic and walk about 117 feet to the final cache.
Don't give up. Enjoy the experience. You will not be disappointed. Sometimes the trail may seem to fade away...but just stop and look around and you will see the well worn path or the cairns. Remember...avoid the sensitive soils and stay on the trail or on the sandstone.
