Geocache Description:

If you are traveling on I-70 or I-135 on either way across the state, this is a good spot for a quick cache and dash. The cache is outside the fence and gate, and it is available all year long. Let me know what you think of the container and its camo.

Location

West Watkins and North Gerard Rd, Saline County
Salina, KS

History

Originally a borrow pit for highway construction. Opened in 1977 as a state fishing lake.

Description

North from I-70 exit 249 to Watkins Rd, then east 1 mile to Gerard Rd, then north 1/2 mile to entrance.

Due to low water levels over the last 3 years, the lake is closed to vehicle access and fishing. Saline State Fishing Lake has 39 acres of water surrounded by 39 acres of land. Facilities include a boat ramp, fishing piers, a vault toilet and several fishing access points.

Special tool is required. Do not forget to bring a slotted screwdriver. A swiss army knive will do the trick, too.
