Geocache Description:

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE CACHE CONTAINER UNCOVERED - replace stones so it's not visible to muggles. There are quite a few larger caches along this pretty cycle route, so we thought we would place some cheeky small ones. Please bring your own pen to sign the logbook.

Ysbyrd y Mwynwyr - Spirit of the Miners. Here you will find an unusual handcrafted wooden seat and on the ground in front, is a slate mosaic pattern with quartz pieces depicting the river. Near the seat is a plaque with a short verse to the river and miners which reads... Through valleys rich in Silver and Lead the Ystwyth River hurled By riches raised from natures core Aberystwyth’s port unfurled Not only a river to the sea but a harbour to the world. Follow the path to the rear of the seat to a riverside area suitable for a picnic or rest if the bench is occupied. But please note this area can flood after heavy rain! The small pond on the opposite side of the cycle track was built to commemorate the Millennium and is in the Community's nature and conservation area. There is a small shop in the nearby village centre. This cache is located on Route 81 of the National Cycle Network (the NCN), to find out about the NCN and Sustrans, who developed it, check out their web site.
