Three Cache Monte is a variation of the shell game
or three card Monte. The game requires three shells and a small,
soft round ball, about the size of a pea, and often referred to as
such. It can be played on almost any flat surface, but on the
streets it is often seen played on a mat lying on the ground, or on
a cardboard box. The game begins by placing the pea under one of
the shells, then quickly shuffling the shells around. The player is
then given an opportunity to select one of the shells. If the
player correctly identifies the location of the pea, the player
wins an amount equal to their bet; otherwise, he loses his
money.
In Three Cache Monte, lamp posts have replaced the shells and an
orange matchstick container (log only so BYOP) has replaced the
pea. Your goal is to find the cache— since no money is
involved, you can guess as many times as you’d like just
mention how many guesses it took in your log.
After signing the log please "shuffle" the
cache for the next person by re-hiding it in a different lamp post
than the one you found it under.
