Geocache Description:

Please keep dogs on a lead.

Moore Nature Reserve is a 200-acre site in Warrington, north Cheshire. The reserve consists of five large lakes surrounded by extensive woodland, meadows and wetlands, made accessible by a network of paths and bird hides. Its many habitats provide a home for a variety of birds, mammals, insects, plants, amphibians and fungi. The reserve is open to the public at all times, 365 days a year. Moore Nature Reserve is managed by wardens for Waste Recycling Group Limited.

This cache is in the vicinity of the Phoenix hide so named because it replaced a previous hide that was burned down. The hide overlooks 2 lakes, the Eastern Reedbed and the Lagoon. A number of ducks and other waterbirds use the lakes especially in winter, you may be lucky enough to see a kingfisher. Bitterns (a rare and shy member of the heron family) use the Eastern Reedbed each winter and some years large flocks of starlings roost among the reeds after an aerial display.

Cache placed with the kind permission of Moore Nature Reserve.
