Halfway Raw (N Yorks) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,
DalesmanX

Geocache Description:

A cryptic cache in the North York Moors National Park. Some problem solving is required.

Please note the given location is not the cache location, but just one of many cryptic clues.

To find the cache you have several pieces of information at your disposal. You may find a map, some note paper and your brain helpful.

First Clue

The first clue is the lat/long of the start of the line:

N 54° 26.197' W 0° 33.585'

Second clue

The next clue is a riddle:

My first is Raw, and my last is the man that is the opposite of raw.
But before you set out you'll need to know some more.
Look halfway along a line between these things to find me.
My last is not a chef, but is a man of the sea.
It was not far from here the man first drew breath,
but halfway around the world that he met his death.
Many times he sailed the seven seas to secure his fame,
And now stone and bronze honours his name.

Third Clue

The next clue is the lat/long of the geocache. Unfortunately I'm only going to give you part of it:

N 54° 2*.*75' W 0° 3*.*42'

Bonus Clue

There is also a bonus clue. You don't have to solve this to find the cache, but it might be useful. But to read the clue you will have to apply a substitution or Caesar cipher to this text:

YtkNsirdqfxyqttpfgtajfsibjxytkPDgjwufxx
djyNyxyfsixstytsxstbgzybjqqyjsijilwfxx
NkdtzhfsykNsiqystbDtzsjjifpNhpNsymjfwxj

To find the number of letters to shift backwards, the number you want is the last digit of a thing which has a unique number at the lat/long of the start of the line.

Hidden Clue

There is a clue associated with a nearby cache.
