This cache is on the new purple dot blazed "Ridge Trail" in Glocester Land Trusts "Steere Hill Farm" property. Ridge Trail has several climbs and descents onto rocky ledges, with several nice vistas.
Two interesting off-trail features are nearby: tall rock cairns, and fireplace.
For access, use the parking area at Heritage Park on Chestnut Oak Road, or the newly enlarged Steere Hill parking area on Putnam Pike (Route 44) diagonally across from the Harmony Post Office. The orange and blue trails west of the main red rectangle Steere Hill Trail connect to the purple dot Ridge Trail. The Melody Hill Golf Course does not allow geocachers to park in their parking lot or to cross their property to access area geocaches. Parked cars are subject to being towed.
The cache is a small plastic box that contains pewter buttons, notebook, pencil, etc.
Hunting is NOT allowed on this property, but it is always prudent to wear orange from September to February when walking in the woods. There is hunting on adjacent private property, so you may hear gunfire in the distance.
All GLT properties are open year round from sunrise to sunset.
Please help me in keeping the trails in good shape. If you should see a hazardous condition, such as tree fallen over the trail, please let me know which trail or better yet the coordinates. Likewise if the trails are in good shape, please include that in your comments.
