Geocache Description:

Historic Hamilton: Bertram M. Brockhouse Park
Historic Hamilton will be a series of caches that serve to bring cachers to historic places in and around the City of Hamilton. These caches can be placed by anyone, and are not limited to one CO. If you know of a historic place that you would like to bring people to, feel free to add it to the series!

Parking is available on St. Ann's Court, and I have created a waypoint for this. Alternatively, you can park across the street at the plaza.

Cache is a small camo'd lock-n-lock lock-n-lock located in a small park dedicated to Bertam M. Brockhouse. Cache contains only a logbook so please bring your own writing instrument and replace as found.

Bertram Neville Brockhouse was a Canadian physicist. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics (1994, shared with Clifford Shull) "for pioneering contributions to the development of neutron scattering techniques for studies of condensed matter", in particular "for the development of neutron spectroscopy". He is Hamilton's only Noble prize winner.

In 1982, Brockhouse was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was promoted to Companion in 1995.

In October 2005, as part of the 75th anniversary of McMaster University's establishment in Hamilton, Ontario, a street on the University campus (University Avenue) was renamed to Brockhouse Way in honour of Brockhouse. The town of Deep River, Ontario has also named a street in his honour.

Congratulations to Foam Follower on the FTF!
