George Merry Junction Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is located along the cross-country ski trails at Strawberry Pass. It is located along the same trail as the "Red Dog Cabin" cache. This junction, named after George Merry, a Rossland Olympian who was born April 28, 1929 who participated at the 1952 Oslo Games and came in 41st place in the men’s slalom as a 22 year old. We assume he must have also played a part in the development of these unoffical trails. They don't name a random trail junction in the middle of nowhere after anyone, you know... ;)
If you have come from the Red Dog area - if you head right - you will go to the Mosquito cabin - heading left will take you out towards the View cabin - though that is an hour's hike away.
This one is hid quite close to the trail - "winter cache" style - and please add some "camo" - moss or branches to the cache hide to camoflage it a bit from the trail. Good luck and hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do!
