The version I remember

The monkey and weasel are supposed to be hidden in here, but I can't spot them, can you?

Remember the old Nursery Rhyme "Pop Goes the Weasel"? There are many versions, of which contemporary verses in the United States include these:

All around the mulberry bush (or cobbler's bench)
The monkey chased the weasel;
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun, (or "'twas all in good sport") (or "that it was a joke")(or The monkey stopped to pull up his sock,) (or to scratch his nose)
Pop! goes the weasel.

A penny for a spool of thread,
A penny for a needle—
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.

Jimmy's got the whooping cough
And Timmy's got the measles
That's the way the story goes
Pop! goes the weasel.

The version I grew up with, had them circling the cobbler's bench and the monkey wearing socks, ( an odd mental vision), and the line says, "The monkey stopped to pull up his socks." Before the weasel went POP! I actually found one reference to this other version online. See the title photo.
