Geocache Description:

A nano cache (which used to be 35mm film) is placed magnetically near Tako-no-matsu Pine Tree.

Osaka used to be called "Tenka-no-daidokoro" some 400 years ago, the direct translation of which is "Japan's largest trading warehouse". Many merchants here in Osaka engaged in trading crops, sea foods and domestic products from all over Japan, making Osaka a "trade center of Japan" at that time.

The economy was flourished right here in Nakanoshima where a lot of traders owned warehouses. And rich people started planting Japanese black pine trees on the riverside as a symbol of their success

One of the black pine trees was so much loved by people just because it looked like an octopus -- which translate to "tako" in Japanese. This is why "Tako-no-matsu" was so special to remember.

The original Tako-no-matsu was unfortunately ceased. To remember good old days of Osaka, however, descendant of the original tree was implanted here to celebrate recent urban renovation of Nakanoshima area.
