UPS #3 - Hide and Seek Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

czar7: Unfortunately, this one has been too hard to maintain. For some reason most folks are not paying attention to the spirt of this cache and continue to put it back the way they "think" it should be not how it is supposed to be. Went out and picked this one up (and it was not where it was supposed to be).

Hope those who found it (the way it was supposed to be placed) had fun.

Geocache Description:

Third in the series. This particular cache employs a trick I saw in Dallas when I was there last year. It drove me nuts...then I found it and had that "ah ha" moment.

This is the third in a series of caches that will be under (literally and figuratively) the UPS banner.

What is UPS? Not the delivery company...but rather...Unnatural Pile of Sticks. If you have been caching for any period of time and have been in the woods, you have seen these. Generally, they are piles of sticks about a foot to 18" long. Mostly facing the same direction at the base of a tree. As a cacher, it is a dead giveaway that there is a cache hidden underneath. For the muggles...they walk right on by.

This series is meant to test your skills and maybe teach you something new as well. I have seen and read about a lot of ideas with these. I plan on implementing these ideas (along with a few others I have dreamed up).

My intent is two fold. 1. I hope you have fun trying to find these. 2. I hope that finding them will add some ammunition to your geosenses toolbox.

For this particular hide, please replace the cache site exactly as you find it when you approach. In fact...as you approach, you will see the UPS. Survey the area first and remember what it looked like before you began your search. Then have at it!

For those that care...DadsGLC suggested this site almost 18 months ago after a hike during summer camp. I surveyed the area and found a site for another cache but this property was private. About 6 months later the county bought this property. They have not yet decided how they are going to use it. We were out here doing a fall/winter check on my caches and she asked if we could take another look. Sure enough, it was a great place for the next entry in this series. So here you go. If you cross the stream you will be on private property...so don't.

Please park at the Regional Park and walk around the fields to the power lines. Follow the power lines to the trail head waypoint in this listing.

Also...all of the property on the other side of the power line trail is private. They hunt there. Be careful and don't trespass.

Enjoy!
