Palindromes are numbers or words that are the same forwards and backwards such as, "racecar," "So many dynamos," or "Go Hang a Salami – I'm a Lasagna Hog."
There are two types of palindromic GPS coordinates: double and single. Double is when the north/south coordinates and the east/west coordinates form separate palindromes. Single is when the combined numbers form a single palindrome.
To find this cache you must figure out where there are coordinates that form a single palindrome along the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail. This trail runs about 20 miles from Massapequa Preserve at the South end to Cold Spring Harbor at the North. The solution will be in the form:
North AB° CD.EFG, West GF° ED.CBA
The letters N & W are not part of the palindrome and I've left out the usual leading zero from the degrees of longitude, though that wouldn't really matter.
The cache is about 150ft off the trail, but it's a mild bushwack. My GPSr was a bit jumpy when I placed the cache, so let me know if coords seem OK. Watch for thorns and lots of poison ivy. Gold dollar for FTF! Good Luck!
