About Ein Maimon
At Ein Maimon (Maimon Spring), near kibbutz Gonen, there is everything required for catching a peaceful moment in nature. Here on the slopes of the Golan Heights, in an area full of springs and orchards, there is a small round pool with clear water in which one can enjoy a relaxing dip under the shade of eucalyptus and fig trees and around raspberry and mint bushes. Some work was done at the Ein Maimon Spring, which in the past used to be called Ein Alma’mon, a few years ago in the memory of Tzachi Krips, kibbutz HaMa’apil member who died during the second Israel-Lebanon war. Here one can find sitting areas and a few books in the memory of Krips.
Arrival at Ein Maimon: from Gonen Junction which is on road number 918, turn east to road number 959 toward Merom Golan. After approximately 200 meters, when the road turns sharply to the left, park your car on the right side of the road. From here continue on the blue trail. Ein Maimon is accessible to travelers on foot, bicycle and 4X4 vehicles. In the area one can also find other springs such as Ein Divsha and Ein Heshek. During the spring the blue lupine flowers here and paints some of the slopes in blue.
About the cache
The cache is a plastic container with a blue lid. It is inside a black plastic bag to help out with camouflage. It is hidden in the lower part of the oasis where there is space for playing and running around. After you find the cache, I recommend continuing up hill to the East for another 200 meters, through the strange gate and up to the source of the spring. This is the highlight of the site and well worth the effort.
Reception of the GPS was not so good. I recommend using the hint. Also, notice that there are another 2 caches farther South, on this path (it becomes green after a while). Finally, please make sure you hide the cache when done. Many visitors come to this spot in the summer and we would not want to get found by the ‘others’.
