This cache is in a nature reserve run by Lincolnshire Wildlife
Trust. There are several events during the year advertised on their
website click here.
There are well made footpaths in the reserve but the last couple of
hundred yards to the cache may be muddy. The bridge over the
railway was closed when I last visited but the gates to the level
crossing are useable with care, this used to be the only way over
the line before the bridge was built.
When I visited the area one lake had at least a hundred coots on
it, hence the name of the cache. The cache is near one of the many
lakes in the reserve, all of them with many different birds.
Electric scooters will be available to hire. The Park has hard
surfaced footpaths but visiting can still be difficult for people
with mobility problems. The electric scooters have been chosen for
their suitability for use in the countryside. With a wider
wheelbase they are more stable over rougher ground and a suspension
unit gives a smoother ride. They will be available from the Natural
World Centre. Anyone wishing to hire one should book in advance by
calling the Natural World Centre on 01522 688868. There is free car
park at N53º 11.052, W00º 38.358,
