Water Under the Bridgewater Bridge Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

NeverSeenGene: I have decided to just go ahead and archive this one. If, by some unlikely chance I become motivated to hide any more geocaches, I'll just replace this one with a new one in the same general area.

Geocache Description:

This quart-sized screw top cache was placed in memory of what Bridgewater Bridge was until a few years ago: A narrow, winding road turned sharply and narrowed even more at a tiny, rickety wooden bridge across the rock-studded creek below the dam. People would gather on the rocks to fish, picnic, swim, wash clothes, and just generally socialize. I never got around to taking photos of the area, and now it is gone like water under the Bridgewater Bridge.

The cache is not hidden in the rocks bordering some portions of the area. The hide is good, but its location here on the Catawba River Trail should be evident when you get to the coordinates. It's a very short walk from parking but you should be careful accessing and replacing the cache. Most of the time you will have no problem with muggles, but on "fishing days" there could be a lot of people around. In any case, the cache should be replaced carefully so that it will not be visible to nearby fishermen, picnickers, etc.

The cache was put out with geocache statement, log, pencil and sharperner, and a few small items. A small multi-function tool was included as a gratis prize for the FTF, if wanted.

It's a good place for BANK FISHING and there is a place to put in small boats like canoes, kayaks, etc. There is plenty of parking but there generally are no other facilities. Porta' potties may be available during the warmer months.

*******Congratulations and thanks to five0expres for the FTF*******
