A Greener Hamlin Park Traditional Cache
CaptainKevin: Finally got down here to check on this but it is completely gone. Someone placed an Altoid tin in a smaller stump next to the last hide spot but it is not the cache so I removed it as trash. This one has had a good run of five years so it is time to open the location to others.

You are looking for a well camoed small container (barely bigger than a micro) well hidden but adjacent to the trail. Muggle factor can be high at times. Please respect park hours, dawn to dusk only!
This is a wonderful park in Shoreline but it has suffered from "too much love" by the many users of the trail system here. Hikers and dog-walkers and mountain bikers have all blazed trails in every direction here and, while that makes it a lot of fun, it causes a lot of wear and tear on the vegetation. In addition, there is a lot of invasive species of plants and, even worse, a paucity of native vegetation that can enhance the habitat for the wildlife in the park.
As you walk the park trails, you will notice a number of areas where newly planted native vegetation is enclosed in fences to allow the new growth to get a good start. They are also working on ways to get people to use the main trails and stay off the multiple minor trails in an effort to further reduce the negative human impact.
This cache is placed at an intersection of main trails near a fenced in newly planted area and you will find signage nearby that will provide information on the work they are doing and what the new plants are and the benefit they provide.
Enjoy this fine park and please use good stealth tactics to keep this cache alive. The main challenge to finding this one may be getting good signals under the trees.
Update March 15, 2016: Found container only by reaching waaay down inside the tree cavity. Apparently inside is rotting out so moved container to a new spot just a few feet away. See hint.
Update April 6,2014: The re-vegetation program is doing well and now the nearby fenced in area is no longer fenced in. Just remember that this hide is very close to the intersection of trails. Have fun!
Update July 22, 2014: People repeatedly are replacing this one incorrectly. I made some changes to the hide spot so it is harder to place it in such a way that it is too hard to find. Please replace AS FOUND complete with the existing natural camo. If you are in a group, the person finding must be the one replacing. DO NOT think you have a better idea for this hide. Keep it the same so others can find it.
