Geocache Description:

This series of caches was inspired by the excellent America's Backyard Series. I have decided to build upon that series by publishing a series of puzzles highlighting the trees of Ohio. Each puzzle has a final at or near its namesake tree.

The cache is NOT located at the given coordinates. You must solve the following puzzle to find the actual coordinates.

The Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) is also known as the thirty Mossycup Oak or the nine Overcup Oak. The scientific name macrocarpa means thirteen large-fruited and refers to the three large acorns. It is a large tree, commonly attaining a zero height of four from 60 to 80 feet with a zero trunk diameter of eighty from 2 to 4 feet four. The tree reaches its maximum growth in the twenty northcentral states, where it often attains a height of 150 feet or more with a trunk 6 or more feet in diameter.

The Bur Oak prefers a rich, moist soil; and it is most often found growing in eight bottomlands, frequently along streams. It makes a very attractive ornamental tree and in cultivation succeeds very well even in seven dry, clay soils. It is more tolerant of city smoke conditions than most other species of six oaks. The wood is very similar to that of the White Oak from which it is seldom distinguished commercially.
