This cache was placed as one of a series of three caches to encourage you to get out and explore the Catamount Trail. This section, between German Flats Road and VT 17, can be explored by skis, snowshoes, or on foot. The Catamount Trail shares this section with the Millbrook Trail, maintained by the Mad River Path Association.
I recently ordered a bunch of large bison tubes in bright colors. I was thinking that they belonged on a Christmas tree this time of year. This is the second which I just had to hide as the holiday season is here.
To access the cache, you may park along the German Flats Road at its intersection with Hiddenwood Rd. The trailhead is a short distance down from here, next to a flashing school light. This cache is a little over half a mile from the trailhead. Follow the blue and yellow blazes. If you continue past this one, the trail eventually comes out on VT 17 just below the Mad River Barn.
