Geocache Description:

Pinnacle Peak Park is a 256-acre volcanic cone that rises straight out of the Enumclaw farmlands and straight down to the White River. Also known locally as Mt. Peak, and even Mt. Pete, Pinnacle Peak is one of the most popular hikes for Enumclaw and South King and East Pierce County families. This cache is located along the gravel road on the south side of Mt. Peak.

This week marks the fifth anniversary of the crash of a US Army Black Hawk helicopter that was from Fort Lewis. December 21, 2006, at 8:20pm while performing nighttime training exercises, a UH-60 Black Hawk with 3 soldiers on board, perished on the south side of the mountain. Lost were Chief Warrant Officer James Whitehead, Chief Warrant Officer Patrick Paige and Sgt. Thomas Clarkston. A small memorial has been placed at these coordinates to honor these three soldiers. If you visit downtown Enumclaw, there is a large memorial stone at the Veterans Memorial Park located at N47 11.979 W121 59.486 along SR 410 near the QFC Store.
There is parking at the trailhead on SE Mud Mountain Road and SE 481st ST. Parking coords are N47 10.210 W121 59.368. Do not block the gate. NO NIGHT CACHING. Trail is only open from sunrise until dusk. The hike is on a gravel trail with an elevation change of 300'+ in just under a half mile. Strollers not recommended. BYOP, it's a long walk back to the car for a pen.

Congratulations to the McMorrow's Clan for claiming the $2 FTF prize!
