THEME CACHE: Arts and crafts based cache located within walking distance of Ketchum park. (Note: To help maintain the theme, please do not leave non-theme items unless you also take non-theme items in exchange. Thanks!)
Cache box is a large rectangular Rubbermaid container (with a white lid that has been painted olive green), approximately 2/3 mile walk from the parking area near the bridge. Please be sure to seal the lid completely, and to store the container level in order to keep any moisture from getting into the cache.
Original contents include crayons, colored pencils, chalk, markers, craft sticks, Playdoh, plastic children's scissors, temporary tatoos, a mini puzzle, and the 'Artsy Fartsy Travel Bag' (TB13CE). Try to bring arts/crafts related trading items...something you made, or things that kids could do projects with, etc.
NOTE: As of 4/12/02, this cache has been moved to a NEW LOCATION (within the same park).*
This was done for three reasons:
1) To help reduce the likelihood of attempts to cross the muddy swamp,
2) Even the 'recommended' path was a bit soft and potentially muddy in places, and
3) While I originally thought I had placed the cache along a 'deer path', it has begun to appear that it is actually a fairly high traffic 'people' path (despite being on soft ground that dead-ends into the swamp).
NOTICE: Please keep an eye out for poison ivy while you are searching for this cache. (It's still too early in the season for me to tell whether what I saw was alive or dead, but I'd recommend caution.)
* Due to the update in this cache's location, anyone who logged a find prior to 4/12/02 is welcome to hunt the cache again, and to log a new find against it. (In essence, this is a completely new cache...even the container itself was replaced to reduce the crowding of its contents.)
(Note: The difficulty and terrain ratings have been updated to reflect the new location.)
** Lastly, if you are planning to do both this cache and the Potawatomi Trail, I recommend you do this one second. **
