Workyticket: As there appears to have been no response from the CO we are archiving this cache listing to prevent it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements in the area. Geocache Description:

This is a small cache which we have placed at one of our favourite places to walk our geohound to. We hope you enjoy your visit!

Silvas Capitalis was created by SIMPARCH, a group of artists based near Chicago in the USA. In creating the work of art, they thought about people who lived in this area in the past. This is what they have to say about the installation:

“Stepping inside, looking out and listening is all about heightening awareness and drawing attention to the sights, sounds and smells of the forest. Doing so reminds us of the much more intimate relationship earlier inhabitants had with this remote, rugged landscape, when you had to use use all your senses to survive.”

Known affectionately by the current residents of this area simply as “The Head”, this spot is a favourite place to visit in our family. My geokids love having their snack in the mouth, and their favourite trick is hanging out of the nose pretending to be bogeys. Yes, they are both boys!

This cache can be easily accessed from the Lakeside Way. From Kielder Village, it would take you just over an hour to reach the cache site. Alternatively, there are a couple of laybys you could park in that would make the walk shorter. If you are going to park nearer, please be careful not to block forestry roads/farm access.

The cache is a small click and lock Tupperware box. When placed, it has a few things for the geokids, and a geocoin, as well as the logbook, a pencil and a pencil sharpener. Please could you make sure you replace the cache and hide it carefully, as otherwise it could be very exposed!

Cache placed with kind permission of the Forestry Commission.
